Background

From a very early age, Velunur has shown "Signs" of having magical powers. At the tender age of 4, he managed to melt his pet cat, while being totally unaware of how he did it and that he did infact do it. At the age of 7, his parents, seeing that he had these powers, decided that the best thing to do would be to send him to learn to control these powers with a Master Sorcerer.
This was only supposed to take a few years, 11 years later he was still there, His only friend being a weasel which just showed up one day and has never left his side since. He named it Sophisso and decided to keep it as a pet.
Sophisso is a small, brown, haggard looking little thing with small sharp claws which he likes to dig into Velunur at the most inappropriate moments. This obviously displeases Velunur but try as he may to teach it not to, Sophisso continues to do so like a form of entertainment. Despite this, Sophisso is very very loyal and has actually been taught by Velunur to do a few simple tasks like collect small items for him and distract his teacher, so Velunur can do something he's not supposed to do. He spends most of the day inside the hood of Velunur's cloak, unless he is sleeping, where he is usually inside his Pouch that Velunur's teacher gave him.

It seem that Velunur may not be the sharpest tool in the shed. Grasping simple control is a huge problem. His spell casting would only come to use apon panic and being scared. He could stand all day trying to cast, yet in a panic he would accidently cast one, which in effect, could possibly save his hide. Although it most of the time served to get him into more trouble. Obviously displeasing his teacher, he is often on the end of a good old ear bashing, which results normally in him crying himself to sleep and calling for his "mummy". Apart from the Ear Bashings, the only thing he ever recieved from his Teacher was a familiar pouch, which his adopted pet Weasel lives inside.
His life with his teacher wasn't a good one. He longed to go home and thought about running away a few time but where would he go? How would he manage to get home? He's decided against it everytime at the final moment.
Although pretty Diligent with his work to a certain point, Velunur's concentration goes right out the window if anything shiny is close. It's a combination of Getting ready to run away again, his masters magical "Shiny" wand and the wish to be anywhere else that has him now lost, and wanting to be back home.

Recently Befriended by random people in a bar, Vel has taken it apon himself to get the group, and himself into alot of trouble. He often finds himself on the wrong end of a beating or even arrested after drinking way too much but recent events, the burning of his face being the main reason, seem to have changed his attitude. He was more quiet and withdrawn,
But as his powers are beginning to flourish, so is his ego and his nature is turning more aggressive.

He is beginning to see himself, no matter how wrong he is, as a being who can do what he wants, when he wants. His appreciation for his own life is growing, yet diminishing for others. He has recently killed innocent civilians in order for the group to escape through a portal. There was no need for him to do this but he did it anyway. Korr has never looked at him the same way since and now, with admitting to Korr during a fight, that he enjoyed doing it because it made him feel powerful, The Barbarian has turned his back to Velenur and no longer considers him as a friend. He has isolated himself from the core of the group in his actions and only time will tell what happens.

Couple things John..

Firstly it's called Knowledge (Arcana) mate.
Secondly, I see you've put the skill ranks. Don't forget you also get the stat bonuses. So, for example, your Bluff has charisma as its stat, meaning you have 5 (ranks), +3 (skill focus), +3 (charisma bonus) for a total skill bonus of 11. If you look at the skill descriptions shown at http://www.d20srd.org/indexes/skills.htm you'll be able to see which stat goes with which skill.
Thirdly you don't get the -1 damage on light crossbow. The damage penalty for low strength applies to melée weapons only.

I'm not going to comment too much as I've already spent some amount of time workingon this with you. I think it's a pretty good starter character for someone who needs to learn the rules. You need to keep track of a few straightforward spells and should you end up using the mace or crossbow, it will be very basic hit&damage rolls. Outside of combat, you've got some nice social skills which will hopefully be useful for RP.

As we've discussed the background might make using spells sometimes interesting to RP, but having messed with your masters stuff and ended up landing into the planes, another clueless berk is probably wise as it doesn't require you to know too much planar background, given that your character certainly doesn't.

Looks pretty good! The only suggestion I'd make is exchanging your Str and Wis scores based on the background and description having him be a scatterbrain with low self-control/discipline.

I also liked the bit about him melting his cat Very Happy

Agreed with Zerty. Sounds like low wisdom PC to me. The whole "ooh look shiney thing" and not being able to concentrate etc is low wisdom. But meh, it don't matter to be honest, his WIS 10 well may stem from, inability to concentrate and massive curiousity, but along with strong sound reasoning etc.

Looks solid enough so far though bro.

Just to help out:

Your HP will end up being 16+1d4 (max HP for the first three levels according to the campaign setup).

Your AC will be 12, though casting mage armour will change that.

Your base movement speed will be 30 feet.

No No. I actually had spell penetration from the start. It's in Blue because my resist dc has increased with my level up.Just so i can keep track of things.
It's more for me than for anything else. Sorry about the confusion.
I'll need to add another feat then, lol. I totally forgot about a6th level feat -_-

Hello mate, just looking at your character sheet for a bit of help building mine but noticed you have only taken +2 for improved initiative instead of +4, is that a mistake or an adjustment?

That is a mistake he's made. Improved Initiative provides a +4 bonus to initiative rolls.

*edit* Ah nvm, i just noticed i was wrong again.
